PM Modi Takes Fresh Swipe at Opposition, Revives ‘Dimagi Naxal’ Remark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again launched a sharp attack on opposition leaders in his characteristic style. Reiterating his earlier reference to “Dimagi Naxal,” Modi said the term worked like a homeopathic pill, exposing the true nature of his critics. He made the remarks while addressing the centenary celebrations of Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) yesterday. Speaking to the youth, the Prime Minister compared the performance of his government with that of previous governments and launched a pointed critique of their handling of major crises.

Referring to his earlier Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, Modi said, “You may have heard my speech from the Red Fort. From the Red Fort, I gave a homeopathic pill called ‘Dimagi Naxal.’ According to the principles of homeopathy, when treatment begins, the disease initially becomes more severe. That is the nature of homeopathy.”“Similarly, as soon as I gave the ‘Dimagi Naxal’ pill, the Dimagi Naxals started emerging one by one. People can now see the true colours of those who are promoting this disease,” he said.

The Prime Minister also strongly criticised the way previous governments handled crises faced by the country. Addressing the students, he said, “I have told you many things. Some may think, ‘What is this? This is a country of 140 crore people. It is very easy. What new thing has Modi done?’ But is it really that easy? I want to take you back once again to the old days.”

Referring to the 2013 Kedarnath disaster, Modi said, “At that time, the entire government was in disarray. They did not know what to do or how to respond.”He also criticised the previous government’s handling of the global financial crisis of 2008. “When the banking crisis struck in 2008, the government of that time tried to hide behind the crisis for years. They did not even have the courage to confront it. India’s entire banking system was pushed to the brink of collapse,” he said.

Describing the challenges faced by his government, Modi said it had confronted them with determination. “First came the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the world to a standstill. Then the Russia-Ukraine war began. Trade and supply chains became weapons. A crisis emerged in West Asia. Every time, people said, ‘India will not survive this.’”“My biggest admirers—my critics—were happy, saying, ‘Now Modi is trapped, he has fallen, and he will finally be brought down.’ But the blessings of the people of my country are so powerful that every wish of those who want India to fail is not being fulfilled,” Modi said.Modi had also visited SRCC in 2013, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. His address to students at the time gained considerable popularity on social media ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that he has now returned to the same platform to address students as the Prime Minister of India.
