BJP MP Kangana Ranaut recently reviewed development works in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency and strongly questioned officials during a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee. Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow progress of projects despite the release of around ₹11 crore in MP funds, she criticised the officials’ performance, calling them “lazy” and “completely inefficient.”
Ranaut lashed out at officials for repeatedly making promises regarding development projects in the Mandi constituency while little progress was visible on the ground. She directed them to stop making assurances and immediately complete the pending works. She also said that she had questioned the utilisation of MP funds in previous meetings, when officials had claimed that there were no issues with the use of the funds.
However, she said the actual situation came to light later through surveys conducted by external agencies.
Officials informed the meeting that several development projects in the Mandi constituency had been pending for a long time. They cited reasons such as the unavailability of land and delays in obtaining the necessary approvals. Ranaut, however, made it clear that such reasons could not be used to delay the projects any further. She pointed out that considerable time had already passed and directed officials to ensure clear and measurable progress on every pending project going forward.
