Comprehensive Probe Into Assembly Incidents, Criminal Cases Against Guilty: Revanth

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said in the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the government has decided to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged conspiracy-linked incidents during the monsoon session, register criminal cases against those responsible and punish the guilty. He said the Assembly had expressed concern over incidents on the opening day, including abusive remarks against the Speaker and the alleged purification of land walked on by Dalits. Revanth Reddy assured Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar of the support of the Assembly and the government and said those who hurt the Speaker’s sentiments would not be spared.

Responding to the lengthy discussion in the Assembly on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy alleged that some individuals, allegedly instigated and acting in a state of frenzy, attacked officials and behaved in a manner that insulted the office of the Speaker and his mother. He said democratic protests could be expressed through several means, but insulting the Speaker was unacceptable. The Chief Minister said the government had planned discussions from September 7 on education-related issues, alleged irregularities in Dharani, Section 22(A) matters and several other public issues raised by the Opposition, but alleged that the discussion was obstructed. He said the government would act responsibly in ensuring legal action against those responsible.
