Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh has said that the force is focused on strengthening India’s air defence capabilities in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat. He stated that the IAF aims to become one of the world’s most capable, innovative and technologically advanced aerospace forces by 2047. Emphasising that a developed nation must be secure and resilient enough to withstand crises, Singh said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s ability to strike targets at long distances, sending an indirect warning to Pakistan. He also noted that India is closely monitoring developments in the Indo-Pacific region. Singh shared these views during an interview with news agency PTI on Sunday.
Singh said the theatreisation plan aims to improve coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force while establishing a centralised command structure for faster responses when required. He clarified that the initiative would not involve geographically dividing combat capabilities and would be implemented in phases without compromising operational readiness. The IAF is also working to enhance its ability to strike distant targets to protect national interests. Singh highlighted the strategic importance of India’s military presence in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, particularly in the eastern Indian Ocean. He added that India is committed to safeguarding its national interests, sovereignty and strategic autonomy while working to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
