Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is moving forward by overcoming challenges aimed at weakening its economy. He observed that economic disruption has become a significant concern alongside conventional warfare. Modi made these remarks while inaugurating a greenfield data centre established under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) at Infovalley-II in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The facility was built at a cost of ₹169 crore. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that although banks were nationalised during the 1960s and 1970s, banking services did not become fully accessible to the poor. He added that poverty eradication largely remained a slogan during that period. Since 2014, however, the banking sector has undergone comprehensive changes, with digital banking emerging as a major driver of financial inclusion and improved service delivery.
Modi highlighted the contributions of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the Mudra scheme and the Atal Pension Yojana in supporting poor and middle-class families as well as self-help groups. He said banking services had become accessible to people at their doorsteps, while stressing the importance of strengthening cybersecurity as digital transactions expand. The new facility is intended to support the RBI’s data infrastructure and cyber-related training efforts. Odisha now hosts the RBI’s second cyber training and data centre, according to the Prime Minister’s remarks. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Jual Oram, Governor Braj Mohan Prasad, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra were among those present at the inauguration.
