Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced plans to construct four airport-style RTC terminals in the state to improve public transport facilities. On Sunday, he laid the foundation stone for the Young India Integrated School, which will be built across 25 acres at a cost of ₹200 crore within the limits of Tatipalli and Morapalli gram panchayats in Jagtial Rural Mandal. Ministers Lakshman Kumar, Government Whip Aadi Srinivas and Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar participated in the programme. Speaking to the media afterwards, Ponnam said the proposed terminals would feature modern amenities and would also accommodate private buses.
The minister said the Congress government introduced the Mahalakshmi scheme for women soon after assuming office and entrusted women’s self-help groups with bus operations. He added that steps were being taken to purchase new buses and recruit staff to meet growing passenger demand. The government is also prioritising infrastructure improvements at bus stations, bus connectivity to every village, passenger welfare and the well-being of RTC employees, he said. Ponnam further stated that special attention was being given to reinstating dismissed employees, making compassionate appointments and clearing pending dues.
