US President Donald Trump said that key leaders in Iran are gone and it is not clear who to negotiate with. He commented that the killing of Iranian leaders needs to stop and who to negotiate with. Trump made these comments at a campaign rally in the US state of Georgia on Saturday
Iran has no planes, no ships, no leaders left. The top leader of that country, the next highest leader, is dead. We need to stop killing them. Because we need to know who we're talking to," Trump commented. Several key Iranian leaders were killed in airstrikes by the US and Israel in the early days of the war. Among those killed was Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. It was reported that his successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, was also seriously injured (Iran US war 2026).
The US and Iran have been at various stages of conflict for the past nine months (US Iran negotiations). Although the attacks have temporarily stopped, there are signs that the US government may take military action again. However, Trump's latest comments indicate that the attacks on Iran may stop. On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also responded to US warnings. He made it clear that even if the war starts again, there will be no change in his country's policies.
