The Andhra Pradesh government has requested an extension of the deadline for MBBS and BDS admissions, citing vacant seats under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota. According to the information provided, 112 NRI quota seats remain unfilled across the state. State-level counselling concluded on October 23, while the deadline for completing MBBS and BDS admissions is approaching, raising concerns about filling the remaining seats.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences has written to the authorities seeking an additional 15 days to complete the admission process. The university has also requested a reduction in the NEET-UG qualifying percentile to help eligible candidates fill the vacant seats. The National Medical Commission has reportedly stated that it will examine the Andhra Pradesh government’s request. Any extension or change to the qualifying criteria will depend on the decision of the competent authorities.
