Heavy rainfall associated with the northeast monsoon has affected Puducherry, leaving several low-lying areas inundated. The downpour has disrupted traffic at key locations, including Indira Gandhi Square, Rajiv Gandhi Square and Shivaji Statue Junction, where vehicles are reportedly facing long delays. The waterlogging has added to difficulties for commuters and residents as the city experiences persistent rainfall.
Meanwhile, a number one warning signal has reportedly been hoisted at Puducherry Port in view of the weather conditions. Revenue officials and rescue teams have been alerted and are undertaking precautionary and relief measures. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged roads and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
