Tamil Nadu.. Ruling Alliance Gets a New Name

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has officially announced the name of the ruling alliance in the state. At a meeting of alliance partners held at the TVK office in Chennai on Wednesday, the ruling alliance was named the ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance’ (SSJVA). Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is the main party in the alliance, while the Congress, VCK, MDMK and IUML are alliance partners. Representatives of all the constituent parties attended the meeting and unanimously approved the name.

The TVK-led government and its alliance partners had been functioning without an official name for the coalition until now. The alliance leaders finalised the name ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance’ to reflect political values such as secularism and social justice. The leaders said the alliance would move forward with coordination among all its constituent parties.
