Chakali Ilamma, the Banner of Defiance Against Feudal Rule

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said Chakali Ilamma was a courageous woman who fought against feudal rule and the arrogance of the landlords. He said the banner of defiance raised by Ilamma against oppression and repression continues to hold a lasting place in the history of the Telangana armed struggle. The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to Chakali Ilamma on her death anniversary.

Revanth Reddy recalled that nearly 80 years ago, Ilamma had raised the call for resistance against the oppressive rule of feudal lords in Telangana. He said the Telangana Thalli statue was designed drawing inspiration from brave women such as Sammakka-Sarakka and Chakali Ilamma. Their courage and fighting spirit, he added, continue to serve as an inspiration for the present generation.
