Telangana is planning to strengthen its leather industry and encourage aspiring Scheduled Caste (SC) entrepreneurs through new infrastructure and industrial development initiatives. IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced that a dedicated Common Facility Centre (CFC) would be established in Gachibowli to support leather artisans and add value to their products. The centre is planned across approximately 3.5 acres under a hub-and-spoke model, with international-standard facilities. The government is also taking steps to establish environmentally friendly, internationally compliant leather-tanning units at Rukmapur in Choppadandi mandal of Karimnagar district, with the potential to provide employment to around 1,000 people. During a review meeting with senior officials of the Telangana Leather Industries Promotion Corporation at the Secretariat, the minister discussed measures to promote the leather sector, support artisans and develop SC youth into entrepreneurs. He also said that plug-and-play flatted factory complexes were being planned at Jammikunta in the Huzurabad constituency and at Armoor under the Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme.
Sridhar Babu also highlighted the role of Generation Z in shaping the future through innovation and technology at Dev Fest 2026, held at a convention centre in Jubilee Hills. Around 3,500 IT professionals, students and aspiring innovators participated in the event. The minister encouraged young people to experiment with their ideas and develop creative solutions to real-world problems, noting that innovative thinking could lead to transformative changes. A digital AI avatar of Sridhar Babu was unveiled at the event by Tensorgo under the name “Telangana AI Minister.” The AI-powered avatar demonstrated its ability to answer questions in both Telugu and English. The initiative showcased how artificial intelligence could be used to improve digital engagement and communication, while the event provided a platform for technology enthusiasts to explore emerging innovations.
