National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah strongly criticised the BJP for allegedly targeting Muslims and questioning their patriotism. He said that Muslims are often pointed at and labelled as Pakistanis over various issues. Rejecting such remarks, Abdullah asserted that Muslims have also sacrificed their lives for the country and continue to be an integral part of India. He emphasised that Muslims belong to this nation and are committed to working towards its progress and strengthening.
Abdullah further stated that people belonging to all religions have the right to live in India with dignity and equality. He said that everyone is born as an Indian and will die as an Indian, irrespective of their religion. Reaffirming his position on Jammu and Kashmir, he asserted that the region was, is and will remain an integral part of India. His remarks highlighted the importance of national unity and respecting the rights of people from all religious communities.
