With the T20I series between India and New Zealand over, attention has now shifted to the upcoming five-match ODI series. The opening match is scheduled to take place on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland. However, New Zealand have suffered a major setback ahead of the series, with key players Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra ruled out of all five matches due to injuries. India won the T20I series 3-2 after securing victories in the first three matches. Led by Shubman Gill, the Indian team will now look to carry that momentum into the ODI series, while New Zealand will have to adjust their plans without two important players.
Chapman sustained an injury to his left hamstring during the European T20 Premier League and is expected to need at least another two weeks to recover. Meanwhile, Ravindra suffered a dislocation near his right shoulder joint during a promotional shoot and requires more time to regain full fitness. New Zealand head coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over their absence, stressing the importance of both players to the team. He said Chapman was disappointed but working hard to return to action. Walter also explained that Ravindra was not yet fit enough to field in white-ball cricket. With a Test series scheduled later this month, the team does not want to take unnecessary risks with his recovery.
