Former minister and YSRCP leader Vidadala Rajini has alleged that attacks and irregularities are taking place during the local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the media on Monday about the alleged incidents during the municipal elections, she said her party was continuing to fight for the people despite facing attacks. Rajini claimed that incidents of violence began soon after the election schedule was announced. Criticising Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, she alleged that democratic practices had weakened in the state. She further accused TDP workers of carrying out attacks with police support and claimed that B-forms were torn up in the presence of officials. She also alleged that party workers were being pressured to withdraw nominations through intimidation at election offices during the night.
Rajini further accused officials and the police of failing to protect voters' rights. She alleged that YSRCP leaders were being placed under house arrest while TDP supporters were receiving police protection. Describing the election process as being unfairly influenced, she raised allegations of booth capturing, rigging, attacks and other irregularities. She criticised the state government's handling of the election process and called for accountability over the incidents. These remarks represent the YSRCP leader's allegations regarding the conduct of the local body elections.
