The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered repolling at 13 polling stations across five districts following allegations of irregularities during the municipal elections held on Sunday. The fresh polling is being conducted in seven urban local bodies after reports of booth capturing and disruptions to the voting process. The SEC said the decision was taken based on reports received from the district administration and election authorities.
Of the 13 polling stations, eight are in Kadapa district and two in Palnadu, while Anantapur, Tirupati and Prakasam districts have one polling station each. In Kadapa district, repolling is taking place at four polling stations in Pulivendula Municipality, three in Jammalamadugu Municipality and one in Kadapa Municipal Corporation. Voting began at 7 am on Monday and is scheduled to continue until 5 pm. Tight security arrangements have been made at the affected locations to ensure peaceful polling.
