Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar strongly criticized the dismissal of the disqualification petition against Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender. He said that under the Congress government, the legislative system itself is harming democracy. He compared it to a mother harming her own child, saying that when the legislative system damages democracy, it is an even bigger mistake.
He said it is shameful that a person who won as an MLA from the BRS party could contest as an MP candidate on a Congress ticket without facing disqualification. He also said it is laughable to claim that there was no party defection even after campaigning with a Congress scarf. According to him, staying at Gandhi Bhavan and campaigning for Congress while saying there is no defection is harmful to democracy. He questioned whether Chief Minister Revanth Reddy himself had invited them by offering Congress scarves.
Bandi Sanjay added that the Speaker’s decision could reduce people’s trust in the legislative system. He accused the Congress of trying to control constitutional institutions. He said the Speaker should act independently and not support political interests. He also announced that they will approach the High Court against the decision and expressed full confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice.
