Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attended the condolence meeting held at Ravindra Bharathi in memory of noted Telangana poet and lyricist Andesri. Speaking on the occasion, he delivered powerful comments, stating that Telangana society may appear innocent but has always been strongly aware and resistant to arrogance and authoritarianism.
Revanth Reddy recalled that poets and artists played a crucial role in spreading awareness during both phases of the Telangana movement. He emphasized that the cultural force they generated was instrumental in realizing the dream of a separate state.
The Chief Minister paid homage to Andesri’s contribution, especially his iconic composition “Jaya Jaya He Telangana”, calling it one of the pillars of the movement. He stated that imagining the Telangana agitation without Andesri was impossible, as his songs ignited emotion and motivation among people across the state.
In a significant remark, Revanth Reddy revealed that some individuals had conspired to sideline Andesri during the movement, even while his songs echoed across Telangana. He assured that the government would stand firmly by the families of both Andesri and Gaddar, calling them “the two eyes of Telangana”.
Revanth Reddy highlighted that after coming to power, his government officially declared Jaya Jaya He as the state anthem and ensured its inclusion in all school textbooks. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting poets, artists, and Dalit communities.
He reiterated Telangana’s pioneering role in implementing SC categorization and emphasized the need to strengthen SC representation not only in education but also in jobs and politics. He said his government is fully committed to taking necessary steps in this direction.
Concluding his speech, Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that wherever the Telangana movement is discussed in the future, Andesri’s name will shine like the Kohinoor diamond.
