Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores are in the custody of US security forces in New York. While photos related to this were already released by Trump, videos have now been made public as well. The videos clearly show that Maduro was brought from Venezuela and detained at the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New York Division office.
In the early hours of Saturday, US special forces conducted a surprise raid on Venezuela's capital, Caracas. During the raid, Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores attempted to escape, but US security forces took them into custody. The couple was reportedly at their residence in the high-security Fort Tiuna military compound in Caracas when the attack occurred. Despite their efforts to flee with high security, they were unsuccessful.
The Rapid Response 47 Team shared a video related to Maduro on their official X account. In the video, officials are seen escorting Maduro into the DEA New York Division office in Lower Manhattan. He is shown in handcuffs, surrounded by security personnel as a detainee. While being taken into a room, Maduro is clearly seen wishing the security staff "good night" and "happy new year." After the raid, Maduro and his wife were first taken to a US military base and then transferred to New York. US media reports that Maduro will be moved from the DEA office to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Charges against the couple include narco-terrorism, importing tons of cocaine into the United States, and possessing illegal weapons.
