The Andhra Pradesh government is set to provide major relief to nearly 15,000 employees working in public sector undertakings, Gurukul institutions, and society-run schools. The state has initiated steps to increase the retirement age of these employees from 60 to 62 years. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly approved the proposal, and the file is expected to be placed before the state cabinet soon for final approval.
The proposed decision has been welcomed by employee associations, which believe it will benefit thousands of workers across various government-supported institutions. Representatives of employee unions expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, and senior officials for considering their long-pending demand. The move is expected to offer greater job security and financial stability to eligible employees.
