In a major revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has uncovered a shocking detail in the Red Fort blast case. The suicide attacker, Umar Mohammad alias Umar-un-Nabi, reportedly assembled the explosive device inside a car parked in the Red Fort parking area.
According to investigators, CCTV footage shows Umar staying inside the car for nearly three hours, during which he prepared the bomb without stepping out even once. This indicates that the entire explosive device was assembled right within the parking lot.
NIA has also gathered footage confirming that Umar conducted prior reconnaissance around the Red Fort before the attack. Officials believe he and his associates had lengthy discussions on which location in Delhi should be targeted, eventually choosing the highly crowded Netaji Subhash Marg.
With the recent bust of a terror module in Faridabad, Umar feared that he could be arrested anytime. This, officials say, might have pushed him to execute the blast in haste.
