A sanctioned oil tanker carrying crude from Russia was intercepted by the French Navy with support from the United Kingdom in the Atlantic Ocean. French President Emmanuel Macron shared a video of the operation on social media platform X on Monday, confirming that the vessel named Tagore was stopped during the operation.
Macron stated that bypassing international sanctions, violating maritime laws, and using oil exports to fund Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine for the past four years is unacceptable. The coordinated action highlights stricter enforcement against sanction violations at sea.
