The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former Indian cricketer Sairaj Bahutule as the new Spin Bowling Coach of the Indian senior men's cricket team. Bahutule brings extensive coaching experience, having worked with the National Cricket Academy (NCA), India A, Under-19 teams, and several IPL franchises. His appointment is expected to strengthen India's spin-bowling resources across all formats of the game.
The 53-year-old is regarded as one of the most accomplished all-rounders in Indian domestic cricket. Although he represented India in only two Tests and eight ODIs, his domestic record is remarkable. Bahutule scored 6,176 runs and claimed 630 wickets in 188 first-class matches, while also taking 197 wickets in 143 List-A games. As a coach, he has guided teams such as Kerala, Bengal, Vidarbha, and Gujarat, besides serving as a spin-bowling coach for IPL franchises. He was also part of India's successful Under-19 World Cup coaching setup and has played a key role in nurturing young spinners at the NCA. Reacting to his appointment, Bahutule described it as a great honor and expressed his commitment to contributing to Team India's success.
