TGSRTC has officially denied social media claims alleging that Metro Express bus tickets were increased from 30 to 45 rupees. The controversy intensified after a viral post questioned the sudden 15-rupee jump and urged opposition leader K.T. Rama Rao to respond. KTR also reacted, adding momentum to the discussion.
Based on the clarification shared by RTC MD Y. Nagireddy, Telangana Fact Check stated that the corporation imposed only an infrastructure cess on buses within Greater Hyderabad on October 6, 2025. No fare revision has been implemented in the state since then. Ticket prices generally depend on diesel costs, and proposals are sent to the government when fuel prices rise, but many such proposals are rejected to avoid burdening passengers. The corporation added that some passengers might still be unaware of the previously introduced cess, leading to current misunderstandings.
