A major railway incident occurred in Bihar's Jamui district on the saturday night when a cement-laden goods train derailed near the Barua River Bridge close to Simultala-Telwa Halt on the Jasidih-Jhajha section of the Delhi-Howrah main line. Reports indicate that several wagons went off the tracks, with some plunging into the river below, blocking both up and down lines and completely halting rail traffic in the area. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported since it was a freight train.
The derailment disrupted operations on this busy route, affecting multiple passenger and express trains. Railway authorities quickly deployed emergency teams, including accident relief trains from nearby stations, to the site for rescue and restoration efforts. Twisted tracks, spilled cement, and scattered wagons made the nighttime operations challenging.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the derailment, possibly related to technical or track issues. Restoration work is underway on a priority basis, and passengers have been advised to check official updates for train schedule changes.
