The film Slumdog, directed in Puri Jagannadh’s trademark style, has become a major talking point in Tollywood. After the setbacks of Liger and Double iSmart, the director is said to have taken up this project with great ambition. Vijay Sethupathi will reportedly be seen in a completely different makeover in the movie. Sources say the shooting has been completed, post-production work has also been wrapped up, and the first copy is ready. However, there is still no clarity regarding the release. Industry circles suggest that the main reason for the delay is that the OTT deal has not yet been finalized. The makers are reportedly looking to secure digital rights before the theatrical release. It is also being said that due to the performance of Puri’s previous films, OTT platforms are not offering the expected deals.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that certain financial issues may also be affecting the release process. Discussions are said to be taking place in the Film Chamber regarding pending dues related to past distributors. Despite this, expectations remain high that the movie will be an intense emotional action drama. Leaks claiming that Vijay Sethupathi plays a blind beggar in a Money Heist-style genre have increased curiosity around the film. The presence of strong performers like Tabu, Samyuktha and Duniya Vijay is considered a major asset for the project. Music by Harshavardhan Rameshwar is expected to elevate the film’s mood and impact. Industry buzz also suggests that promotions were delayed due to the Tamil Nadu elections. If everything falls into place, the film is likely to release in five languages simultaneously in June or July this year.
