Telangana Government Announces Major Relief for Farmers

The Telangana government has announced a significant incentive for paddy farmers by offering a bonus of ₹500 per quintal for selected paddy varieties. The government has identified seven specific seed varieties that will be eligible for the bonus scheme. These include BPT-5204 (Samba Masuri), RNR-15048 (Telangana Sona), HMT Sona, Jai Shriram, KNM-1638 (Koonaram Sannalu), WGL-44 (Siddhi), and KNM-7715.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has directed seed companies to prioritize the production and sale of only these government-approved varieties. He clarified that the ₹500 bonus will be applicable exclusively to farmers cultivating these seven paddy varieties. The government has also instructed companies and dealers to focus on the identified seeds to encourage quality paddy production and provide better returns to farmers.
