Modi’s Central Asia Tour: Key Meeting with Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan from August 29 to September 1 for a series of important bilateral and multilateral engagements. During his visit to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Modi will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and hold a separate meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders are expected to comprehensively review India-Russia bilateral relations. Modi will also address the plenary session of the SCO Summit and attend the opening ceremony of the sixth World Nomad Games along with other leaders.

Before visiting Kyrgyzstan, Modi will travel to Uzbekistan on August 29 and 30 at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During his fourth visit to Uzbekistan, Modi will hold delegation-level talks in Tashkent aimed at further strengthening the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership. Discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
