Will E10 Replace E20? BPCL Gives Key Clarification

A debate is underway in India over keeping E10 petrol available for older-model vehicles. The discussion comes as the government promotes the use of E20 petrol, amid concerns that higher ethanol-blended fuel could affect older vehicles. Against this backdrop, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), India’s second-largest retail fuel company, has made a key statement on the issue.

BPCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Khanna said the government and oil companies are discussing whether E10 petrol should also remain available alongside E20. However, he clarified that no final decision has been taken on the matter so far. He also made it clear that there is currently no proposal to replace E20 petrol with E10.
