Keeping in view the expected passenger rush during the Rakhi festival, RTC will operate 5,000 special buses, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced. The special services will be available to passengers from August 27 to August 31. The minister reviewed the festival transport arrangements at his residence along with Transport and Roads and Buildings Department Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj and RTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy.
Ponnam Prabhakar said RTC had operated 4,760 special buses during last year's Rakhi Purnima and has increased the number by 240 services this year. Around 3.68 crore passengers travelled on the special services last year, including approximately 2.51 crore women passengers. RTC is making additional arrangements to ensure smooth and convenient travel for the increased number of passengers expected during the festive period.
