Congress Hits a Century.. Trouble for BJP?

If Lok Sabha elections were held now, the NDA is projected to win 326 seats with around 45 per cent of the vote, according to the India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey. The BJP alone is expected to secure 261 seats, while its alliance partners may win 65 seats. Compared with the January survey, the NDA's projected tally has fallen by 26 seats from 352. The Congress-led INDIA alliance is projected to win 185 seats, three more than the January estimate but 49 fewer than the 234 seats secured by the opposition bloc in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

CVoter said it conducted face-to-face interviews with 25,184 people across the country between July 1 and August 25, while also considering responses from another 91,795 people interviewed over the previous six months. The survey suggested that Gen Z protests, paper leaks and alleged irregularities in conducting examinations had affected the BJP's image. Meanwhile, Congress is projected to improve from 80 seats in January to 106, with Rahul Gandhi's public outreach cited as a factor. For the preferred prime minister question, Narendra Modi received 49 per cent support, followed by Rahul Gandhi at 27 per cent and Joseph Vijay at 9 per cent.
