E-Auction of Surplus Paddy.. Uttam Issues Key Directions

Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has directed officials to make necessary arrangements for the transparent sale of surplus paddy through e-auctions. He suggested using government platforms such as the Government e-Marketplace and the Telangana e-Procurement portal for the process. During a review meeting on the functioning of the Civil Supplies Corporation in Hyderabad, the minister instructed officials to clearly define lot sizes and bidding norms for paddy auctions.

With paddy production and procurement increasing every year in the state, Uttam Kumar Reddy stressed the need to establish modern storage facilities at strategic locations for the safe and scientific preservation of procured grain. He said conventional warehouses alone would not be sufficient to meet future requirements and called for an advanced storage network with automated handling, scientific preservation, mechanised transportation and digital monitoring. He also directed officials to prepare plans for an additional storage capacity of 5 to 10 lakh tonnes and involve women’s self-help groups in the construction and management of storage facilities.
