U.S. Vice President JD Vance is reportedly causing operational challenges for the Secret Service due to frequent last-minute changes to his schedule, according to international media reports. A recent incident drew attention when Vance allegedly requested the use of a helicopter to take his young son to a golf lesson. However, the trip did not take place due to unfavorable weather conditions. Officials note that such travel requires prior approval from the White House Military Office.
The use of a government helicopter can cost between $16,000 and $24,600 per hour, raising concerns about public expenditure. While there is no explicit rule prohibiting such usage, officials say requesting an official helicopter for a golf lesson is unprecedented. Reports also indicate that Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, used helicopters multiple times while searching for a home in Virginia. However, Vance’s office has denied the allegations and praised the Secret Service for their professionalism, stating that balancing family life with vice presidential duties remains challenging.
