Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Jailer 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15, and the makers have reiterated the release date with a new poster. Social media was recently flooded with reports claiming that certain dialogues allegedly critical of the Tamil Nadu government were being removed and portions of the film were being reshot, raising speculation that the release could be postponed. The production house has reportedly dismissed the rumours and reaffirmed the announced release date. A special song featuring Purnaa has also been released, while the promotional campaign is expected to gain momentum closer to the theatrical release.

The sequel arrives with considerable expectations following the success of Jailer in 2023, which emerged as a major hit and marked a strong comeback for Rajinikanth. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 will feature members of the first film’s cast as well. The movie is expected to enter the Dasara-season box-office race, with Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabali and the Venkatesh- Trivikram project Adarsha Kutumbam also reportedly lined up around the same period in Telugu markets. If the releases remain unchanged, audiences could witness a competitive festive-season box-office battle.
