Vijay Government’s Good News for Farmers and Teachers

Vijay Government’s Good News for Farmers and Teachers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has said that everyone has the democratic right to stage peaceful protests and raise their concerns. However, he stressed that such protests should not turn violent or cause damage to public or government property. Referring to the difficulties faced by farmers and teachers during the previous DMK government, Vijay said cases were filed against them for holding protests and many of those cases have remained pending for years. He announced in the Assembly that his government has decided to withdraw cases registered against farmers and teachers in connection with protests held between May 2021 and 2026.

Vijay said cases were filed against farmers and local residents during protests against various development and industrial projects, including SIPCOT projects and the proposed Parandur Greenfield Airport. He also said teachers faced cases while protesting peacefully over their demands. The pending cases, he noted, have caused difficulties for affected people in matters such as employment and overseas travel. Vijay said the decision was taken to provide relief to those facing such difficulties. However, the government has not disclosed the exact number of cases that will be withdrawn.
