September 2026 Festivals: Janmashtami, Ganesh Visarjan and Mahalaya Paksha

September 2026, which falls during the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, will be marked by several important festivals, vratas and religious observances. The month begins with Sri Krishna Janmashtami on September 4, followed by Pradosha Vrat on September 8 and Masa Shivaratri on September 9. Polala Amavasya will be observed on September 11, while Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrat will be celebrated on September 14. Devotees will observe these occasions through fasting, special prayers, abhishekams, bhajans and temple rituals.

The latter half of the month features several significant observances. Kedareswara Vrat will be observed on September 20, followed by Parivartini Ekadashi and Vamana Jayanti on September 22. Ganesh Visarjan and Anantapadmanabha Swamy Vrat will be observed on September 25, while Purnima and Uma Maheswara Vrat fall on September 26. Mahalaya Paksha begins on September 27, a period traditionally dedicated to remembering ancestors through tarpanams, shraddha rituals and charity. September 29 will feature Sankatahara Chaturthi along with other religious observances.
