In today’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan produced a brilliant century to shine on the big stage against Sri Lanka. Farhan reached his hundred in just 59 deliveries, showcasing explosive batting and breaking multiple records in the process. This was his second century of the tournament, having already scored one against Namibia in the group stage.
With this performance, Farhan became the first batter in a single edition of the T20 World Cup to score two centuries, a feat previously unmatched. In past tournaments, only Chris Gayle has scored two World Cup centuries, but across different editions. Farhan also surpassed Virat Kohli’s record of 319 runs in a single T20 World Cup (set in 2014) during this innings. He entertained the crowd with a flurry of fours and sixes throughout his remarkable knock.
Alongside Farhan’s heroics, fellow opener Fakhar Zaman contributed 84 runs, helping Pakistan post a commanding total of 212/8 in their 20 overs. To stay alive in the semifinal race, Pakistan now needs a big victory and a high net run rate. Specifically, they must defeat Sri Lanka by at least 64 runs to surpass New Zealand’s net run rate. Although Babar Azam did not feature in this match, Farhan’s outstanding form provided the team with much-needed support.
