The Tamil Nadu government has announced full undergraduate tuition fee support for Muslim women admitted through the government quota. The scheme will cover students pursuing arts, science, engineering, medicine, agriculture and law courses in government, aided and self-financing institutions. An initial allocation of ₹20 crore has been made for the initiative, aimed at improving access to higher education for women from the minority community.
The government has also announced a wider set of measures focused on women and minority welfare, including expanded scholarships for schoolgirls, a new women’s college in Chennai, interest-free financial support for minority community assets and skill-development programmes for youth. The initiatives are intended to promote education, employment opportunities and greater economic participation among women and young people.
