Vikarabad Railway Station Set for Major Upgrade

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the Vikarabad Railway Station is undergoing major modernisation works at an estimated cost of ₹27 crore. Speaking to the media after inspecting the works, he said around 15,000 passengers use the station every day and nearly 60 trains operate through it. A waiting hall, VIP lounge and parking facilities are being developed for passengers, with officials instructed to complete the works by the end of this year. He also said that 42 railway stations across Telangana, including Vikarabad, Tandur, Nampally, Secunderabad, Moula Ali and Charlapalli, are being upgraded to modern standards.

Kishan Reddy said railway infrastructure projects worth around ₹80,000 crore are currently progressing across Telangana, including doubling, tripling and quadrupling of railway lines, while electrification has been completed across the state’s railway network. He highlighted the implementation of indigenous Kavach and Kavach 2.0 safety technology and the availability of five Vande Bharat trains from Hyderabad. He added that the rail manufacturing unit at Kazipet is nearly 90% complete and is expected to be inaugurated soon. He also spoke about proposed high-speed rail connectivity between Hyderabad and Bengaluru and Pune, and directed officials to accelerate National Highway works in Vikarabad district along with improving railway connectivity.
