Salman Khan’s ‘Karna’ to Be a Two-Part Epic?

Salman Khan’s much-awaited mythological project ‘Karna’ is generating considerable buzz even before production begins. Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra and reportedly backed by Excel Entertainment, the film is said to be based on the life of Karna, one of the most powerful and complex characters from the Mahabharata. The makers are reportedly planning the project as a two-part epic, with a massive budget and grand-scale visuals aimed at delivering a pan-India cinematic experience. There is also industry buzz that the team is eyeing the ambitious ₹1,000 crore-plus mark at the box office.

The project has reportedly been in pre-production for around five years, with the team working extensively on its world, characters and visual design. The shooting is being planned to begin around August 2027. Before that, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra is expected to direct a small-town romantic drama featuring Vikrant Massey, which the team reportedly plans to complete in about 30 days. Meanwhile, pre-production work on ‘Karna’ is expected to continue simultaneously. With Salman Khan and Mehra joining forces for a large-scale mythological spectacle, expectations are already high over the film’s eventual impact at the box office.
