Thailand opened its Women’s Asia Cup T20 campaign with a six-run win over Hong Kong in Dubai. After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Thailand scored 120 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Captain Narumol Chaiwai led the innings with 43 off 31 balls, including four fours and two sixes, earning the Player of the Match award. Hong Kong’s Marina was the standout bowler with four wickets.
Chasing 121, Hong Kong appeared to be in a strong position at 84 for three, but Thailand’s bowlers fought back effectively in the closing stages. Hong Kong eventually finished at 114 for seven after 20 overs. Carey Chan and Yasmeen scored 28 runs each, while Marina added a quick 22 off 11 balls. However, their efforts were not enough to secure victory. Sri Lanka will face the UAE in the next match.
