Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has called for significant changes to T20 cricket, emphasizing the need to restore balance between bat and ball. Speaking at a recent awards event, the former Indian captain noted that the increasing number of 200-plus totals has made life extremely difficult for bowlers. To make the game more competitive and entertaining, Sachin suggested three key reforms that could reshape the T20 format, including the IPL.
One of his major recommendations was the removal of the Impact Player rule, which he believes gives batting teams an unfair advantage by allowing an additional batter. Sachin also proposed splitting the six-over powerplay into two parts, with the first four overs remaining mandatory and the remaining two overs being used at the discretion of the fielding captain. Additionally, he suggested allowing one bowler per team to bowl a fifth over, arguing that fans would enjoy watching the best bowlers compete for a longer duration, just as top batters often bat through an innings.
