Veligonda Project to End Migration Woes, Boost Development: Nara Lokesh

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh said the inauguration of the Veligonda Project marks a new chapter in development for the people of the Markapuram region. He said the long-awaited project is expected to help bring an end to migration-related hardships and transform the drought-prone region by improving water availability. Lokesh also thanked the displaced families and others who made sacrifices and contributed to the construction of the project. He noted that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would inaugurate the project, fulfilling a dream that had lasted for nearly three decades.

Lokesh said the project aims to provide safe drinking water and irrigation facilities to people in the Markapuram region, which has long faced drought and fluoride-related problems. He added that improved water resources could also support the development of horticulture and agriculture in the area. The government is working with strong determination to complete irrigation projects and improve public welfare, he said. According to Lokesh, “Veligonda waters, wings to development” is not merely a slogan but reflects the coalition government’s approach towards regional growth.
