The BCCI is reportedly preparing to review the Impact Player rule in the Indian Premier League once again. Ahead of IPL 2027, the board has decided to seek fresh feedback from all 10 franchises on the rule. The teams have reportedly been asked to submit their views by August 31. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had earlier said that the rule would be reviewed after the conclusion of IPL 2026.
Apart from the Impact Player rule, franchises have also been asked to provide feedback on areas including players, the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA), umpiring, practice sessions and playing conditions. The latest move comes amid objections raised by some team captains over the rule. The BCCI is expected to take a final call on whether to retain, modify or scrap the Impact Player rule after assessing feedback from all 10 franchises.
