Afghanistan star all-rounder Rashid Khan has been appointed to a key position as a member of the Player Advisory Board of the World Cricketers’ Association (WCA). The announcement was made by the WCA on Tuesday. Along with Rashid Khan, players like Chamari Athapaththu, Daryl Mitchell, Wayne Madsen, and Maddy Green have also been inducted as new members. This role provides a platform for players to voice their opinions on global cricket matters and contribute to the future of the sport.
The new appointments come following the retirement of Tim Southee and the exit of Sophie Devine from the board. The WCA appreciated their contributions over the years. Established in 2018, the advisory board aims to represent players’ views on ICC events, scheduling, and commercial aspects of the game. With representation from 17 major cricketing nations, the board plays a crucial role in shaping the future of cricket, including discussions around introducing the sport in the 2028 Olympics.
