

A historic moment has arrived in Indian domestic cricket! For the first time in history, Jammu & Kashmir have won the prestigious Ranji Trophy. In the final held at the KSCA Stadium in Hubli, the match ended in a draw against Karnataka, but Jammu & Kashmir claimed the title with a massive first-innings lead. This was their maiden appearance in a Ranji final, making them the ninth team to win the trophy on debut.
Opener Shubham Pundir played a crucial innings with a brilliant century, building a 139-run stand with Yawar Hassan for the second wicket. The team posted a massive total of 584 runs in the first innings with two century and three half-century partnerships. On the bowling front, Auqib Nabi shone brightly, taking five wickets for the seventh time this season and dismantling Karnataka’s batting lineup. Despite skipper Mayank Agarwal scoring a fighting 160 runs, Karnataka couldn’t overcome the 291-run deficit.
In the second innings, Jammu & Kashmir continued their dominance as Kamran Iqbal and Sahil Lotra scored centuries to strengthen their position. Under the captaincy of Paras Dogra, the team defeated eight-time champions Karnataka to create history. Winning the trophy in their very first final is a true reflection of their talent and determination.
