Brand Finance, a UK-based brand valuation consultancy, has reported a significant decline in the brand value of the IPL this year. According to its latest assessment, the league’s valuation, which stood at approximately ₹1,07,867 crore in 2024, has fallen to ₹86,291 crore in 2025. This indicates a steep loss of nearly ₹21,576 crore within just one year.
The organisation stated that the tense atmosphere and near-war situation between India and Pakistan during this IPL season was a major factor behind the decline. These geopolitical tensions even led to the postponement of the 2025 IPL season by a few days.
The report further highlighted that the impact of the mega auction, changes in team compositions, and the lack of consistently thrilling matches also contributed to the fall in the tournament’s brand value.
Franchise valuations were hit hard as well. Despite winning the championship this season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru saw their brand value shrink by 10 percent. Chennai Super Kings suffered a 24 percent drop, while Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders recorded declines of 35 percent, 34 percent, and 33 percent respectively.
Gujarat Titans emerged as the only franchise to register positive growth, recording a 2 percent increase in brand value.
