The Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s richest cricket league, continues to transform the financial landscape of players across the globe. With the 2026 mini-auction approaching, several franchises have made bold decisions—including releasing key players—which has generated significant buzz. As retention lists reveal surprising moves like Chennai Super Kings parting ways with Ravindra Jadeja and Rajasthan Royals acquiring Sanju Samson, attention has also shifted to players who earned extraordinary sums solely through the IPL. Some cricketers have accumulated more than ₹200 crore or ₹100 crore just from their league contracts.
At the top of the earnings chart stands Rohit Sharma, who began his IPL journey with Deccan Chargers (now Sunrisers Hyderabad) before joining Mumbai Indians. With five IPL titles under his captaincy, Rohit has collected a record-breaking ₹210.9 crore in IPL income. Mumbai retained him last season for ₹16.30 crore, his highest contract till date. Consistent high-value deals from 2014 to 2024 have made him one of IPL’s biggest earners. Close behind is MS Dhoni, who played two seasons for Rising Pune Supergiant during CSK’s temporary suspension. Across his entire IPL career, Dhoni has earned ₹192.84 crore, making him the second-highest-paid player in league history.
Following them is all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who started at Rajasthan Royals before moving to CSK. Jadeja has amassed ₹139.01 crore through his IPL deals and now returns to Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming seasons. Remarkably, Sunil Narine remains the only foreign player to cross the ₹100 crore milestone in IPL earnings. The West Indies spinner, who rose to fame with Kolkata Knight Riders, has earned ₹125.25 crore through his long and impactful presence in the league, delivering with both ball and bat. These staggering figures highlight the IPL’s unmatched financial power and its impact on global cricket careers.
