Govt Hospitals Improve Fertility and IVF Services: Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha

Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said fertility and IVF services are being strengthened in government hospitals across the state. He directed officials to take strict action against private fertility centres found neglecting the implementation of ART and surrogacy laws. During a review meeting with senior Health Department officials at the Secretariat on Monday, officials informed the minister that fertility-related medical services had so far been provided to 39,802 people at Gandhi Hospital and Petlaburj Hospital. Rajanarasimha said the government-run IVF centres were helping many couples realise their dream of having children.

The minister said the government is preparing proposals to gradually expand IVF services to districts. During inspections of 379 private fertility centres, violations of rules were reportedly found at 50 centres, and action has been initiated against them, according to Family Welfare Commissioner Sangeetha Satyanarayana. Meanwhile, AYUSH students called off their strike after meeting the minister and receiving an assurance that their stipend would be increased. The students had submitted their concerns to the minister, following which they announced the withdrawal of their protest.
