England bounced back strongly to defeat India by four wickets in the second ODI and level the three-match series 1-1. Chasing a target of 234, the hosts recovered from an early collapse of 8/2, thanks to a composed and match-winning unbeaten 99 by veteran Joe Root. He stitched together a crucial 72-run partnership with Jack, who contributed 30 runs, while Sam Curran (26) and Brydon Carse Atkinson (23*), provided valuable support as England reached 235/6 in 44.1 overs. Root was deservedly named the Player of the Match.
Earlier, India were bowled out for 233 in 44 overs after opting to bat first. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 66, Virat Kohli made 65, and Shubman Gill added 31. England's disciplined bowling restricted India from posting a bigger total. For India, Brar claimed two wickets, but it was not enough to stop England from sealing a crucial victory and setting up a series decider in the final ODI.
